McLean County Farm Bureau leaders are pleased to recognize the McLean County Board an “Ally in Agriculture” after the board’s adoption of a resolution in support of agriculture, signifying local elected officials support for farmers. McLean County passed the resolution in March 2023 in recognition of significance of agriculture to the local economy. Peter Metivier, a senior at Normal Community High School, plans to study Agriculture Communications & Leadership at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Hoeft, Lemenager Selected for IAA Foundation Scholarships

Abigail Hoeft of rural Bloomington and Paige Lemenager of Hudson were each selected to receive a $1,000 Collegiate Farm Bureau scholarship from the IAA Foundation. Hoeft is a Forest and Resource Management major at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Lemenager is an Agriculture Transfer student at Lake Land College. A delegation of McLean County Farm Bureau staff, four local mayors and two township supervisors traveled to Springfield April 26 to testify in opposition at a House Committee hearing on SB 684 – a bill to expand the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority to include all of rural McLean County. Spring Rural Route Safety Days

Seeing farm equipment up close allowed Ridgeview High School students to gain a better perspective on how to share the road safely at Rural Route Safety Day March 20. McLean County Farm Bureau board member, Reid Thompson, provided a tractor and planter for the event. Mike Dowling also volunteered at the event.
