2020 Golden Clovers Honored

Four dedicated supporters of 4-H and the McLean County Fair received recognition as 2020 Golden and Emerald Clover Award winners. Larry and Mary Mohr were honored as Golden Clovers for serving as leaders of the Udder Club in Normal for many years. The club specialized in dairy projects but also offered other projects and community service activities. MCFB Sponsors New Little Free Library

McLean County Farm Bureau is sponsoring a new Little Free Library that will be installed in the Children’s Garden at the Illinois State University Horticulture Center in Normal. The barn shaped book sharing box was designed and built by students in the Geometry in Construction class at Normal Community High School. McLean County Farm Bureau also donated some ag-related books for visitors to enjoy in the garden or take home to read. Little Free Libraries

Hawk, Witte Complete ALOT Training

McLean County Farm Bureau members Rachel Hawk and Jacqueline Witte recently completed the 2020 Illinois Farm Bureau Agricultural Leaders of Tomorrow (ALOT) program. The nine-week training allows participants to study and develop leadership skills in the areas of communication, political process, agricultural economics, and global issues. Golf Outing Raises Funds Despite Rain

More than 40 golfers hit the links to benefit local agricultural education efforts at the 2020 McLean County Farm Bureau Foundation Golf Outing held July 27 in Bloomington. Despite some rain, eleven teams played nine holes at the tenth annual event and competed for prizes on the course. Participants also enjoyed a ribeye dinner to conclude the day. Ag Books Crop Up at Little Free Libraries

Books about food, farming and other ag-related topics are cropping up at Little Free Library locations in Bloomington, Normal and surrounding communities. Donated by McLean County Farm Bureau, the books include both nonfiction and fiction books about soil, gardening, tractors, wheat, a biography of George Washington Carver and more.
