Volunteers Needed – McLean County Fair

July 1, 2019

Farmers are needed to share their everyday ag knowledge at the Food & Farm Fun Zone educational exhibit during the 2019 McLean County Fair July 31 – Aug. 4. Volunteer shifts are three hours each. The exhibit needs volunteers from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Volunteer benefits: 1st shift: FREE fair admission & t-shirt (while supplies last) 2nd shift: Concession Cash 3rd shift: carnival pass

Industrial Hemp Forum Highlights

Area farmers learned about the challenges and opportunities for growing Industrial Hemp at a forum hosted by McLean County Farm Bureau June 25. Western Illinois University researcher, Dr. Win Phippen, offered a look at what it takes to grow industrial hemp. Challenges include the labor intensive nature of the crop and testing requirements.
