100 Years of COUNTRY Financial: Making a Home in the Twin Cities

September 16 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Join McLean County Museum of History Librarian Bill Kemp for a program celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of COUNTRY Financial. This free public program will be held in-person in the Museum’s second-floor courtroom and live-streamed here on Tuesday, September 16 at 6:30 p.m.
The program will examine the Illinois Agricultural Society / Illinois Farm Bureau and its affiliated companies (including COUNTRY) and the headquarters relocation from downtown Chicago to downstate Illinois in 1960-61. Why did the Farm Bureau make the move? Why was Bloomington selected over its many downstate competitors? How did the new relocation and influx of new employees impact the Twin Cities? The answer to these and other questions will be addressed in this profusely illustrated program.
