COLDER TEMPS TO CONTINUE –

“We’re looking at a real chilly pattern that’s going to be with us for a while.” Those words from DTN Chief Agriculture Meteorologist Bryce Anderson sum up the 10-day weather outlook of colder temps, but a mainly dry weather pattern. In the western Corn Belt, overnight lows will reach into the 20s and may even dip into the teens. The pattern, if it holds true, could help push some farmers into their final stages of harvest. ROAD WORK, OTHER PROJECTS PLANNED FOR ILLINOIS STATE FAIR –

About $500,000 of road improvements is wrapping up on the Illinois State Fairgrounds, the first phase of millions of dollars of improvements that will be undertaken on the fairgrounds in the coming months. In addition to more road resurfacing, the fair will be starting the next round of improvements to the Coliseum, as well as take on long-deferred maintenance on other fair structures. (Herald&Review)

OCTOBER BROUGHT RECORD-BREAKING HEAT AND COLD AND SNOW TO ILLINOIS –

October temperatures soared from record-breaking heat during the first week and fell to record-breaking cold at the month’s end in Illinois, according to Illinois State Climatologist Trent Ford at the University of Illinois’ Illinois State Water Survey. ILLINOIS HUNTERS REMINDED TO PUT SAFETY FIRST –

Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is reminding hunters to make safety their first priority as they head to the field for the state’s firearm deer, upland game, waterfowl and other busy hunting seasons. The IDNR Office of Law Enforcement has investigated six hunting incidents so far during 2019, three of which involved hunters falling from elevated tree stands or falling while climbing into or out of tree stands.
