EPA’s final RFS volumes lower for corn ethanol, advanced biofuels

Total volumes of advanced biofuel and corn ethanol that refiners must blend with conventional fuels over the next two years were cut under a multi-year Renewable Fuel Standard rule finalized Wednesday. The final figures also come as farm and biofuel groups, along with Corn Belt federal lawmakers, have been pushing for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to raise volume levels to match expected increasing biofuel production.   Read more

‘Fed pauses interest rate hikes; more to come?

One analyst warns farmers shouldn’t get too comfortable just because the Federal Reserve took a break from its long run of interest rate hikes this month. Arlan Suderman, chief commodities analyst for StoneX Financial, said “We may have more hikes to go.” And borrowing costs are at the highest level in 16 years.   Read more
