McLean County Farm Bureau is pleased to contribute $2,500 to Allin Township Fire Department to help upgrade their safety equipment and radio systems. The donation is one way to show our support and thanks for protecting our farmers and rural communities. McLean County students entering Illinois State University to pursue a degree in agriculture will have the opportunity to apply for a larger scholarship annually, thanks to a donation from McLean County Farm Bureau. A recent $25,500 contribution will increase the endowed scholarship fund at ISU, first established by McLean County Farm Bureau in 1984. With the increase, a scholarship of approximately $1,600 will be available each year. The scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman
Five dedicated supporters and volunteers of the McLean County Fair and 4-H programs were honored as 2021 Golden Clover recipients. Sharon Hoobler received a Golden Clover for her service as organizational leader of the Stylistics 4-H club and as a Home & Family Director on the McLean County Fair Board from 1991-97. She also coordinated sewing and modeling workshops at the county, regional and state levels and has been a clothing and textiles judge since 1997.
About 130 runners and walkers participated in the 2021 HogWild event held Aug. 1 at the McLean County Fairgrounds. Runners competed in a timed 5K Race and walkers took a 3K route around the fairgrounds. All participants had the opportunity to enjoy a post-race porkburger prepared by McLean County Pork Producers.
