Homegrown Ag Scholarships

Scholarships for Heartland Community College and Illinois State University students pursuing agricultural careers

Complete eligibility & scholarship criteria:

  • Graduate of a McLean County High School and resident of McLean County
  • McLean County Farm Bureau member or dependent of a member
  • Full time student pursuing an agriculture degree or certificate at Heartland Community College or Illinois State University

ISU Students -

Scholarships are awarded each semester. Fill out this Verification Form each semester to receive the scholarship.

Ag Leadership Scholarships

Scholarships for high school seniors and college students who are pursuing agricultural careers.

Eligibility & scholarship criteria: 

  • Graduate of a McLean County High School and resident of McLean County
  • McLean County Farm Bureau member or dependent of a member
  • Full-time student pursuing an agriculturally-related degree within the three scholarship categories below.
    • High School Seniors – $500-$2,000
      • Must be graduating from High School in May 2025 & accepted to an accredited two or four-year college or university
    • College/University students – $500-$2,000
      • Must be a full-time student working towards an agriculture degree
    • Technical or Trade School students – $1,000
      • Must be enrolled in Diesel/Service Technician, Welding, Custom Applicator or other ag-related technical certificate program (programs at regular Community Colleges do not apply for this scholarship)

Selection is based on leadership and character. 

Please note: Heartland Community College & Illinois State University Students are NOT eligible for Ag Leadership Scholarships, but are eligible for the Homegrown Ag Scholarships (see below)

Due annually on February 1

Each application requires a recommendation form to be completed by a reference of the applicant’s choice.

One application & one recommendation form can be used to apply for both Ag Leadership & McLean County Beef scholarships!

McLean County Beef Association Scholarships

Scholarships for high school seniors and college students who are pursuing agricultural-related careers.

Eligibility & scholarship criteria: 

  • Full-time student pursuing an agriculturally-related degree within the two scholarship categories below.
    • High School Seniors
      • Must be a resident of McLean County, IL
      • Accepted for fulltime enrollment to an accredited two or four-year college or university
    • College/University, Technical/Trade School students
      • Must be a graduate of a high school in McLean County, IL
      • Must be enrolled as a full-time student 

Due annually on February 1

Each application requires a recommendation form to be completed by a reference of the applicant’s choice.

One application & one recommendation form can be used to apply for both Ag Leadership & McLean County Beef scholarships!
