BEEF’S SUSTAINABILITY PROMO HIT BY ACTIVIST GROUP –

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, working as a contractor for the Beef Checkoff, launched a campaign aimed at sharing the industry’s science-based sustainability story. Outside of agriculture, there was significant pushback on the sustainability claims, much of it from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (a name that might be misleading). (DTN)

DEMOCRATS UNVEIL $28B IN CONSERVATION FUNDING –

As the House and Senate Democrats continue to formulate their priorities for their $3.5 trillion spending bill, details finally were unveiled on the $28 billion in conservation spending. As previously called for by agricultural groups, the proposal invests additional money in farm bill conservation programs farmers are already familiar with that are oversubscribed. (Beef Magazine)

CORN, SOYBEAN MARKETS CLOSE HIGHER –

On Thursday, the CME Group’s farm markets close slightly higher. At the close, the Dec. corn futures finished 3¾¢ higher at $5.29. March futures finished 4¢ higher at $5.37. May corn futures settled 3¾¢ higher at $5.41. November soybean futures closed 1½¢ higher at $12.84. (Successful Farming)
