Seeing farm equipment up close allowed Ridgeview High School students to gain a better perspective on how to share the road safely at Rural Route Safety Day March 20.

McLean County Farm Bureau board member, Reid Thompson, provided a tractor and planter for the event. Mike Dowling also volunteered at the event.

Students had the chance to climb in the tractor cab to better understand what equipment operators can see and what they cannot see from the driver’s seat.

McLean County farmer, Todd Runge, provided equipment for a Rural Route Safety Day at Olympia High School April 6.

Students learned about precautions for meeting, passing and following farm equipment.
McLean County Farm Bureau Community Engagement committee sponsored the event to help raise awareness about rural road safety.

A similar Rural Route Safety Day program was held at Olympia High School April 6.
