Young Leaders are invited to join us after work to for our February Ag After Hours! Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the McLean County Farm Bureau office in Bloomington.

We will have a panel discussion at 6:30 p.m. about international trade and agriculture, featuring:

  • Tasha Bunting, Livingston county farmer & Illinois Farm Bureau staff
  • Fred Grieder, McLean County farmer/Farm Bureau board member
  • Doug Schroeder, McLean County farmer & Illinois Soybean Association board member

Refreshments will be provided.

Families & kids are welcome to attend. A kids activity will be provided during the presentation. Please indicate ages of kids you are planning to bring.

Guests age 21 and older can join us for drinks after the event.

The McLean County Chamber of Commerce Ag Awards Dinner will be Feb. 21 at the Holiday Inn & Suites – Airport. Social hour is at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and program to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Join area Young Leaders and Illinois State University Collegiate Farm Bureau members Sunday, February 24 pizza and basketball.

Spouses and children are welcome to attend. Game time is 1 p.m. at Redbird Arena.

Pizza will be served in the Ropp Ag Building before or after the game depending on the final schedule.

FAST Training Workshop will be offered at the University of Illinois Extension office in Champaign Feb. 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost is $100 and includes lunch. Participants can save $30 by bringing their own laptop to the training (equipped with Microsoft Excel version 2013 or newer).

One-day hands-on workshop will further participants’ understandings of Microsoft Excel applications and introduce FAST spreadsheets developed by agricultural economists at the University of Illinois.

9:30 am – 12 pm – Cash Flow and Risk Management

  • Illustrate Programs Examining Risk Tradeoffs for Crop Insurance and Marketing
  • Demonstrate Options for
  • Preparing Cash Flows

12 – 1 pm Lunch (included)

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm – Balance Sheet Tool

  • Demonstrate Balance Sheet Assembly and Database Ability
  • Demonstrate Ratio Analysis over Multiple Years Risk Management Tools
