More than a year after the Trump administration imposed tariffs on $250 billion on Chinese products and China answered with tariffs on $110 billion in American imports, including soybeans, the effects are still being seen in McLean County. “The result is that we have ended up with the largest inventory (of soybeans) we have had in a while,” said IFB’s Mike Doherty at the McLean County Economic Development Council’s By the Numbers luncheon. “We are sitting on soybeans which we need to sell…and because we have a large inventory, the prices aren’t likely to rise.” (Pantagraph)
