STATEWIDE $15 MINIMUM WAGE HIKE CLEARS ILLINOIS SENATE, ADVANCES TO HOUSE –

Lawmakers in the Illinois Senate on Thursday passed a bill that would raise the statewide minimum wage to $15 by Jan. 1, 2025. While Governor J.B. Pritzker offered few details on the cost, a memo from the governor’s office obtained by WCIA-TV included a forecast just for state workers’ wage increases nearly $1.1 billion. (IllinoisPolicy.org). During a House hearing on the issue, representatives asked governor’s office staff if he’ll include in his upcoming budget address the tens of millions of estimated additional costs to taxpayers from an increase in the minimum wage.
