WILL INSECTS THRIVE IN 2019? – The first week of January continued the recent trend of warmer than average temperatures. If this pattern continues through the upcoming months, farmers might need to prepare for a big insect year. “Warmer is very good for insect survival,” said Illinois pest survey coordinator Kelly Estes. “If you get two good months of warm weather out of this winter, it’s going to have to be really, really cold that third month to offset that impact.” (FarmWeekNow)
