U.S. SOYBEAN FARMERS NEGATIVELY IMPACTED BY CHINA’S PIG VIRUS

China is culling hogs in hopes of stopping the spread of a virus, which is bad news for U.S. soybean farmers. China is the world’s largest soybean importer, which are mostly crushed to produce oil and soybean meal – a high protein feed for livestock, including pigs, cattle and fish. The African swine fever was found in some pigs in north China last summer and has spread to other parts of the country. (The Wall Street Journal)
