SHORT STATURE CORN COULD PUSH YIELDS TO NEW HEIGHTS

Short stature corn is working its way through Bayer’s research pipeline. Being less susceptible to stalk rot, lodging and greensnap and boosting yields, this shorter plant also can withstand higher planting populations and allow farmers to access the field throughout the season. “It sets the stage for a whole new platform for density. Farmers can take advantage of a more dense crop, which translates into greater yields,” said Bob Reiter, head of research and development at Bayer. (FarmWeekNow.com)
