SHUTDOWN ON THE HORIZONAbout 6,200 federal employees in Illinois could be affected by a partial government shutdown if some federal agencies aren’t funded by midnight Friday. The shutdown, which appears to be contingent on funding for President Donald Trump’s border wall, also could affect some high-profile agencies and departments, including homeland security, commerce, agriculture and transportation. The White House did signal Wednesday it might accept a short-term spending bill to keep the government open until early February.
