POPULATION DECLINE – Illinois’ population declined for the fifth straight year in 2018, logging one of the largest population declines in the nation. Numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau show 114,154 people moved out of Illinois in the 12 months ending in July – or enough to fill a passenger plane full each day. Only New York saw a larger population decline in 2018. (Illinois News Network)
