The Senate adjourned Thursday until Monday, Dec. 31, signaling that lawmakers don’t expect to reach an agreement to end the federal government shutdown this year. Now in its seventh day, the shutdown seems likely to stretch well into the new year, keeping more than 380,000 employees furloughed and nine of 15 federal agencies shuttered as the president and lawmakers battle over border wall funding. Meanwhile, a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll finds that more Americans blame President Donald Trump than congressional Democrats for the shutdown.
