BEEF BATTLE – Despite $200 billion a year in sales, the U.S. beef industry is preparing to battle for market share against unlikely foes: plant-based meat substitutes and actual meat grown in labs. The industry that makes plant-based burgers is growing 20 percent a year. Likewise, lab grown meat could upend traditionally produced meat, making rare and import-dependent animal proteins easier to come by. (NPR)
