A LONG YEAR, AND MORE TO COME – The New York Times Thursday took a look at the tough year farmers have had amid low commodity prices and razor thin profit margins. For Kansas farmer Justin Knopf, the U.S.’ ongoing trade war with China only compounded the problem, with China’s first retaliatory tariffs an eye-opener. “Our local price that day dropped by – I believe it was 80 cents,” Knopf said. “Just that one announcement from China decreased my potential revenue by 20 percent in one day.”
