GENE EDITING COULD CHANGE BRAZILIAN BEEF

A U.S. company thinks it’s found the answer to satisfying Brazil’s growing demand for U.S. beef: Raising Angus cattle in Brazil’s tropical climate with the help of gene editing. Scientists are raising the first calf with traits spliced into her DNA which allow her to better tolerate hot weather. Blood tests and physical features imply the gene-editing is working and Brazil’s agriculture department says the country is open to having the new beef on dinner plates. (Wall Street Journal)
