FARMERS PREFER TRADE TO AID – Despite a $12 billion aid package to help offset damage caused by retaliatory tariffs, Illinois farmers said restoring trade relationships should still be the no. 1 goal:

  • “We certainly need export markets as a place to go with our commodities,” said Woodford County farmer Sean Arians. (WBEZ)
  • “We really appreciate the fact that the president and administration recognize the position they’ve put us in as producers, but the $12 billion, once you start dividing it up amongst the commodities, it is just a short-term fix and it’s not going to make us whole, or make me whole as a producer,” said IFB District 12 Director Steve Fourez (MSNBC)
