TRADE CASUALTIES PILE UP – Senators from across the country Wednesday noted the effects of escalating trade tensions to Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to try to stop a full-fledged trade war. Casualties included falling prices for corn, wheat, beef, pork and soybeans; rising costs of aluminum and steel for soft drink and auto manufacturers; and the threat of production facilities moving to Canada to avoid tariffs. Ross’ response: Let them eat cake. (Washington Post)
