TRUMP DELAYS METAL TARIFFS – President Donald Trump avoided a potential trade war late Monday when he postponed tariffs on Canadian, Mexican and EU steel and aluminium until June 1. The EU “took note of the decision,” but said “The U.S. decision prolongs market uncertainty, which is already affecting business decisions. The EU should be fully and permanently exempted from these measures, as they cannot be justified on the grounds of national security.” (Wall Street Journal)
