FIRST BICENTENNIAL FARM – The Illinois Department of Agriculture recently recognized a Union County family and their farm as the state’s first bicentennial farm. Two centuries ago, Abraham Brown II, his wife and three children homesteaded the 145 acres of southern Illinois farmland where Gerald Brown and his son, Todd grow corn, soybeans and occasionally wheat today.
