The Illinois Wheat Association started a state yield contest to encourage farmers to look for ways to boost output, and the strategy has been effective. This year’s top entries ranged from 108.9 to Mark Krausz’s winning entry of 130.6 bushels per acre. “This contest has been a lot of fun, taking what your dad had for a high wheat yield and almost doubling it,” said Krausz of Clinton County.
