Lawmakers’ positions on Illinois’ new school funding formula haven’t changed, despite Gov. Bruce Rauner’s veto last week. Rauner and his fellow Republicans continue to say the bill gives favorable treatment to Chicago schools at the expense of downstate districts, while Democrats believe Rauner’s changes will hurt both Chicago and downstate schools. The bill must be signed by Aug. 10 for schools to receive funding for the coming year. (State Journal-Register)
