#Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza is again calling Gov. Bruce Rauner to sign off on borrowing that will allow the state to more quickly pay down its $14 billion bill backlog. In a video posted this week, Mendoza said the state’s debt is costing taxpayers $2 million per day because of 12% interest charges on late payments. Rauner’s office, however, said Mendoza already has the authority to take money from dedicated state funds and borrow additional money for those funds. (State Journal-Register)
