Disney, parent company of ABC News, paid Beef Products Inc. (BPI) $177 million to settle a defamation suit BPI brought against the company after it aired a story in which it called lean, finely textured beef “pink slime.” Disney noted the payout in its quarterly earnings report released Tuesday, saying that $177 million was “incurred in connection with the settlement of litigation,” though the company didn’t specify the case in the report.
