Lawmakers had until noon today to send SB1, the education funding bill, to Gov. Bruce Rauner’s desk to avert his calling them into a special session. Not surprisingly, the Senate did not send the bill which means lawmakers will return to Springfield Wednesday for the start of their special session. Rauner has said he’ll use amendatory veto power to redistribute the bill’s funding for Chicago public schools to downstate Illinois schools. (State Journal-Register)
