#Illinois lawmakers last week approved a plan to overhaul the state’s public-school funding. The bill, which is yet to go to the governor’s desk, includes payments of hundreds of millions of dollars to Chicago Public Schools, and requires taxpayers to begin picking up portions of the Chicago’s contributions to teachers’ retirement plans. Gov. Bruce Rauner has said he will veto the bill if lawmakers send it to him in its current form. (Pantagraph)
