President Donald Trump seems to be softening his rhetoric regarding Mexico, helping to mend the frayed relationship the two countries developed after Trump took office. “The relationship is much more constructive,” a senior Mexican government official said; a U.S. official agreed saying greater contact between the two had improved ties. Meanwhile, Trump has promised “some very pleasant surprises” regarding NAFTA, though he offered few specifics. Trump is now expected to seek mainly moderate changes to the trade deal.
