With its annual meeting coming up in May, McDonald’s is urging shareholders to vote no on a proposal to set a deadline for antibiotic-free pork and beef because the company says its “ability to directly influence change is limited” since, unlike with chickens, it doesn’t buy the whole cow or pig. The company also says complex sourcing makes it more difficult to trace the animals’ exposure to antibiotics. (Chicago Tribune)
