The World Trade Organization dramatically slashed its forecast for trade growth this year by about a third to its lowest rate since 2009, when the global economy was mired in recession in the wake of the financial crisis. The WTO said the groundswell in anti-globalization sentiment could make their updated trade growth numbers – revised down to 1.7 percent from 2.8 percent – even worse, especially if policymakers respond in a “misguided” manner, as reported by the Pantagraph.
