#Illinois voters will learn this week if state lawmakers will give them the chance to make changes to the state constitution in November. Any proposed amendments to the Illinois Constitution must clear both the House and Senate by the end of this week or they will not appear on the ballot this year. Proposals still alive in the Legislature include a graduated state income tax, changes in the way political boundaries are drawn, abolishing the lieutenant governor’s office and a change to the state’s obligation to pay for public schools, as reported by the Peoria Journal Star.
