Trade, crop insurance and voluntary GMO labeling topped the list of issues McLean County Farm Bureau members, Tom King and Kyle Rafferty, discussed with elected officials on Illinois Farm Bureau’s Leaders to Washington trip March 21-23.

King and Rafferty traveled with a delegation of 24 Illinois farmers to the nation’s capital to seek support for key agricultural issues.

The group toured the Capital and visited the Japanese Embassy to discuss the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

King and Rafferty met with members of Illinois’ Congressional delegation and members of the House and Senate agriculture committees.

The group also met with USDA staff to hear updates on the Farm Bill and food labeling issues.

Illinois Farm Bureau sponsors the Leaders to Washington trip in March and September each year to advocate for action on ag issues.
