BASF plans to produce 50 percent more dicamba weedkiller in Texas to keep pace with anticipated demand from a new generation of genetically modified crops. A factory in Beaumont, TX, will be expanded next year. BASF, which has made dicamba for half a century, is preparing for a sales bump should Monsanto win regulatory approval to sell soybeans and cotton it engineered to survive exposure to the herbicide.
