NOT BAD, BUT NOT GOOD, EITHER

Following its annual crop projections tour of corn and soybean producing states, Pro Farmer is estimating Illinois corn yields to total 181 bushels per acre this fall, down from 194 last year. Scouts cited fields suffering from nitrogen deficiencies and a lack of rainfall as the reason for the decreased bushel-per-acre average. (Illinois News Network)

FARMERS PLEASED

As harvest ends, local farmers are pleased with crop yields. Farm manager Kurt Bangert says corn yields have ranged from 200 to 250 bushels per acre; soybeans ranged between 60 and 80 bushels/acre, as reported by the Pantagraph.
