UAV UPDATE

GoPro, the video camera maker, is working on a quadcopter. The firm declined to share any details about its design and pricing, but it’s slated to launch in the first half of 2016 and will be aimed at consumers, the company said Wednesday.

DRONE APPROVED FOR FARM APPLICATION

UAV UPDATE

A measure banning the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for #hunting passed the Illinois Senate Tuesday. The measure prohibits the use of a drone in taking wildlife, including fish, with penalties being a Class A misdemeanor in addition to other statutory penalties. Senate Bill 44 now heads to the House.

UAV RULING

The National Transportation Safety Board has ruled that drones are aircraft and subject to existing aviation laws, affirming the Federal Aviation Administration’s regulatory power over the fast-emerging industry. Attorney Brendan Schulman told the Wall Street Journal the scope of the ruling is “narrowly limited.”
