MORE CUTTING CORD ON HOME BROADBAND

Americans continue to shun home broadband and use mobile phones instead for Internet access, survey results released this week by the Pew Research Center finds.  The survey also found that 80% of U.S. adults had Internet access this year, whether through a smartphone or a home Internet connection, up from 78% two years ago.

The average time spent by adults (18+) using an app on the web or their smartphones has doubled in two years, going from 36 minutes per day during 2013 to 1 hour and 6 minutes during this year,  according to Nielsen’s annual Total Audience Report.

WHAT’S UNLIMITED?

AT&T says it won’t throttle down #wireless data speeds until individuals consume 22 gigabytes (GB) worth of data in one billing cycle and also happen to be in a congested part of AT&T’s network. Before today’s announcement the firm would down unlimited data users when they hit 5GB of usage.
