American soybean farmers are beginning to harvest what’s expected to be their second-biggest crop. At the same time, they’re seeing their share of the global export market shrink, reflecting the growing interdependence of Brazil and China in agricultural trading, as reported by Bloomberg News.

PREVENTED PLANTINGS

 USDA data released Friday shows 2014 corn prevent plant acres at 1.541 mln, soybean prevent plant acres at 827,000 acres and 1.360 mln acres of wheat were prevent planted.

BIG CROPS AHEAD

The Linn Group tweeted its latest projection for the 2014 harvest.  It expect “final numbers for corn at 14.518 billion bushels; soybeans at 3.849 billion bushels.  The firm projects Illinois’ average corn yield this year at 199 bushels per acre; soybeans at 53.  USDA will issue its official forecast on August 12.
