CROP INSURANCE CUTS

Critics of federal crop insurance are proposing to cut about $24 billion from the program, far more than what was included in a congressional budget agreement. Bills being introduced in the House and Senate would cut $19 billion over 10 years by eliminating the Harvest Price Option on revenue policies.

SENATE ACTION IS DELAYED ON TRANSPORTATION BILL DEAL

US fast track trade authority on Tuesday got enough votes in US Senate for clearing procedural hurdles. The 60-37 vote effectively ends any filibuster that opponents might mount and sets up the fast-track bill to pass the Senate by Wednesday.

ESTATE TAX VOTE

The House is scheduled to vote on H.R. 1105, the Death Tax Repeal Act of 2015, on Thursday. The vote is significant because the House has not voted on estate tax repeal in ten years. A high vote count will increase the chances that the Senate will take up the issue.
