SALTY FOOD

70% of the pizzas, pastas and meat dishes (think frozen entrees) we purchase in chain grocery stores exceed the FDA “healthy” labeling standards for salt. Americans also get a lot of sodium from soups, cold cuts and bread, according to a new  analysis from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

LUNCH POLL

A new survey finds 72 percent of parents of school-age children supported strong school nutrition standards. It also found 91 percent favor requiring schools to include a serving of fruit or vegetables in every meal and 75 percent think salt should be limited.
