RFS POPULAR

A majority of likely Iowa caucus-goers in both parties favor the country’s ethanol mandate, despite a push from critics outside of rural America to roll it back, a new Des Moines Register poll shows. 71% of Democrats and 61% of Republicans surveyed back the RFS.

BOOST BIODIESEL VOLUMES

A bipartisan group of 36 senators want the Environmental Protection Agency to raise the proposed volumes it set for biodiesel production under the federal Renewable Fuel Standard. The senators said the EPA’s delays in setting biodiesel volumes led to tremendous uncertainty and hardship for U.S. biodiesel producers.

RFS HEARING

 Over 250 stakeholders in the Renewable Fuel Standard testified at a public hearing in Kansas City on Thursday, most of them corn farmers and ethanol producers who say the EPA is setting standards lower than the law requires.

RFS HEARING

The Environmental Protection Agency is holding a hearing in Kansas City, Kansas, on its proposed Renewable Fuel Standard volumes for 2014 through 2016. Farm Bureau members from Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois will be providing in-person testimony at the hearing.

RFS IMPACT

RFS TARGETS

U.S. regulators unveiled much-anticipated targets for the blending of renewable fuels into motor fuel for the three years to 2016, proposing some 17.4 billion gallons of renewable fuels must be used in gasoline or diesel next year. RFS EDITORIAL

USA Today editorial says the Renewable Fuel Standard should be ended. The newspaper says RFS is a mandate that Americans put billions of gallons of corn-based ethanol into their gas tanks each year even though they don’t want it and it makes no practical sense.
