RFS REPORT

Responding to the fact that “some policymakers have proposed repealing or revising the Renewable Fuel Standard” which requires blending biofuels with gasoline, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reported Tuesday that it could be difficult to comply with the steadily increasing ethanol volumes which the law mandates.

RFS DECISION

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack tell Agri-Pulse this week he expects blending requirements in the Renewable Fuel Standard will end up being raised from the EPA’s draft proposal for 2014, but he cautioned those in the ethanol industry not to focus too much on the numbers.

RFS UPDATE

A group of biofuel producers representing some 117 biodiesel companies and other farm groups have written a letter to President Obama highlighting that biodiesel output will meet or even go beyond RFS production mandates this year.  They say a cut to the RFS would lead to production losses and worker layoffs.
