LATEST POLL

A new Chicago Tribune poll finds the race for Illinois governor is a dead heat as Republican challenger Bruce Rauner has made significant inroads among suburban voters, especially women.  The poll shows Rauner with a 45%-43% lead over Quinn, but it’s within the margin of error.

TRACKING POLLS

The Huffington Post tracking poll finds Illinois’ governor’s race a dead heat, with Republican Bruce Rauner leading Democrat Pat Quinn by just 1.6 percentage points. The model currently gives Rauner a 51.9% chance of winning. Too close to call.

QUINN ASKS THAT STATE MUSEUM BE NAMED AFTER DIXON

 Gov. Pat Quinn is calling for the Illinois State Museum Building in Springfield to be named after the late former U.S. Sen. Alan Dixon.

GUV RACE

The Chicago Sun-Times reports their Early and Often poll finds Republican Bruce Rauner leading Gov. Pat Quinn by a 51%-38% margin in the race for governor. The poll found downstate voters surveyed favor Rauner by a 59%-29% margin.

POLLING PLACE LAW SIGNED

Legislation approved by Gov. Pat Quinn on Friday, urges Illinois school districts to make more schools available as polling places on Election Day. The legislation that takes effect immediately is House Bill 3199.

COMMISSION TO PLAN ILLINOIS BICENTENNIAL IN 2018

Illinois is preparing to celebrate its 200th birthday in 2018.  Gov. Pat Quinn’s office said Monday that it has officially started planning for the state’s bicentennial. Illinois became a state on Dec. 3, 1818.
