AT RISK ACRES

Up to 8.6 million acres of #corn and 19.3 million acres of #soybeans are at risk, due to the weather, U of I ag economist John Newton says . That’s 10% of expected corn acres and 23% of expected soybean acres.  We’ll know more after June 30, when USDA issues its acreage report.

PREVENTED PLANTINGS

U of I’s Scott Irwin says current expectations are for above average prevented plantings in soybeans due to the ongoing persistence of wet weather and the magnitude of acres unplanted. He says nearly 1.2 million acres of soybeans in Illinois could become prevented plantings.
