YOUNG ADULT ENROLLEES DISAPPOINT

The Obama administration so far is making little progress in getting more young adults to sign up for health policies on the federal insurance exchange, according to figures released Thursday. Just 26% of people who signed up for coverage in the 38 states that use the federal exchange were in ages 18 to 34.

HEALTHCARE SUBSIDIES OK

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 Thursday that the Obama administration can continue to subsidize health-insurance purchases by lower-income Americans, preserving a centerpiece of the Affordable Care Act.

RURAL HOSPITALS STRUGGLE TO SURVIVE

48 rural hospitals have closed since 2010 and 283 others are in trouble,  according to the Kansas-based National Rural Health Association, which represents about 2,000 small hospitals across the country and other rural providers.  Experts cite declining federal reimbursements for hospitals under the Affordable Care Act as the principal reasons for the recent closures.
