Farmer Index Still Positive

Overall agriculture producer confidence remains unchanged since last March despite a drop in producers’ feelings about their current situation, according to the latest DTN/The Progressive Farmer Agriculture Confidence Index. Producers’ overall confidence remained somewhat positive at 106.9, up slightly from 105.5 last December and unchanged from March 2013. The value of 100 is considered neutral.

WHAT WOULD YOU MISS THE MOST

People between the ages of 16 and 24 would not blink an eye if newspapers and magazines went extinct; smartphones are the “must-have” device of the younger generation. The breakdown among all adults shows a much stronger craving for TV over smartphones and computers.

Annual Meeting Set for McLean County Farm Bureau

McLean County Farm Bureau will hold the organization’s Annual Business Meeting Thurs., Jan. 23 at 5 p.m. in the auditorium of the Evergreen FS  building, 402 N. Hershey Rd in Bloomington. All voting members are welcome to attend. Reservations are not required.

MOBILE NEWS SNACKING

Although consumers spend an average of 2.5 hours a day poking at their smartphones, research shows that the time typically is divided into 150 sessions per day. This makes for an average session time of less than half a minute to snag someone’s attention.

WHO DO YOU DISTRUST

Pew Research says nearly two-in-ten (19%) respondents from a survey said they get news from a source (be it a cable news network, a news magazine or a news website) that they distrust. This figure, though, is more pronounced among conservatives.

MEDIA TRENDS

Pew Research finds when it comes to getting news about politics and government, liberals and conservatives inhabit different worlds. There is little overlap in the news sources they turn to and trust. Conservatives trust Fox News, while liberals tend to favor CNN, NPR and MSNBC.  Both like the Wall Street Journal.
